Image Services
Focal Forensics can help you navigate tough decisions when it comes to advanced Image enhancement techniques, authentication services, comparison reports, and photogrammetry.
Analysis and Enhancement
Image enhancement is the process of adjusting digital images so that the results are more suitable for display or further analysis. Enhancement techniques may include removing noise, sharpening, or darkening an overexposed image, making it easier to identify key features.
The goal of image enhancement is to help clarify images within the video revealing details previously unseen. These details can then be matched, using exemplars, to compare fine details and determine similarites.
Facial Comparison of Images
A morphological analysis is a systematic method of facial comparison in which the features of the face are described and compared. A conclusion in relation to similarity or difference is based on subjective assessment and interpretation of observations.
A morphological analysis as a comparison method is based on the assessment of correspondence of the shape, appearence, presence and or location of facial features.
These features include overall anatomical structures and their components e.g. nose bridge, nostrils, ear lobes as well as discriminating characteristics such as facial marks scars, tattoos, or moles.
Authentication
The goal of forensic image authentication is to establish if the image is consistent with an original. Requests for authenticity examinations, involving investigative matters, can originate from private individuals, law enforcement and private investigative firms.
Authentication is the process of substantiating that the image information is a complete and accurate representation of what it purports to be. A variety of techniques are used in conjunction, according to best practices, that allow the examiner to draw a scientific conclusion.
